ViaVoice ships with a general English language model. This model contains
hundreds of thousands of words that we use in day-to-day conversation. But it
doesn't include
technical terms that are relevant to specific professional groups. Words like
normocephalic,
tympanic membranes, and ecchymosis. In fact, for our general medicine model we
identified
over 12,000 words that health professionals use in real-life dictation that are
not contained in
the ViaVoice or Naturally Speaking general models.
At one word per minute it would take one person 200 hours to train ViaVoice
or Naturally
Speaking to recognize the 12,000 words in our General Medicine Model. At 40
hours per week,
that’s almost 5 weeks!
